Kim Seng is based in Singapore and is a co-founder of 3V SourceOne Capital. He brings with him 19 years of venture capital management and banking experience in addition to 5 years of operating experience within the IT and electronics industries. He is currently a committee member and was the former Treasurer of the Singapore Venture Capital Association.

Before he co-founded 3V SourceOne Capital, Kim Seng served as an Executive Director with UOB Venture Management in Singapore and was the Principal Fund Manager of a S$105 million venture capital fund.His past portfolio includes investments in the Asia Pacific region covering SEA countries, Greater China, and the US.

He has worked on projects in various industries including information technology, life sciences and medical instruments, food and beverages, real estate and infrastructure. Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, Kim Seng worked in commercial banking as an Assistant Vice President with United Overseas Bank in Singapore where he was involved in retail banking, electronic banking, trade banking and commercial banking.

He led the set up of an Electronics/IT Accounts Unit to focus on analyzing credit requirements and portfolio strategy for the electronics and information technology industries. In the area of IT planning and development, he had been involved in the management of a large-scale electronics banking network, nation-wide stored value smart-card project and EDI system. He was a member of the Operation Committee of the Network for Electronics Transfer System (NETS), which owns and manages the EFTPOS network in Singapore. Kim Seng was also the Chairman of the Retail Electronic Banking Committee of the Association of Banks in Singapore from 1991 to 1992.

Kim Seng previously headed the Product Integrity Section at Northern Telecom Asia and was responsible for the introduction of new telecommunication products, including ISDN, digital communication systems and terminals in the South-East Asia and Australia regions. He started his career with Texas Instruments in Singapore as a systems engineer with the Process Automation Design Centre.

Kim Seng holds a MSc in Industrial Engineering and a BE in Electrical Engineering (Honors) from the National University of Singapore. He is a recipient of the People’s Association Scholarship for both high school and university. He is also an alumnus of the US Venture Capital Institute. Kim Seng currently serves as a Board Member of Hwa Chong Institution, one of the premier educational institutions in Singapore.

Michael Wu

 

 

Michael Wu

Michael is based in the US and is a co-founder of 3V SourceOne Capital.  He travels to Asia extensively and has been active in international business for the past 24 years. Prior to co-founding 3V SourceOne Capital, he was a General Partner at iGlobe Partners, a technology venture capital firm.

Michael was an Executive Director at UOB Venture Management in Singapore where he led US and China investments in the high-tech area.  He also set up the UOB Venture Technology Fund in 1999 with a "Technology Triangle" strategy (North America, Greater China and ASEAN), and was in the process of setting up a China technology fund with Chinese partners. Michael also served as Senior Vice President at H&Q Asia Pacific, a venture capital firm, where he was responsible for the China portfolio. Prior to that, Michael was the Managing Director of Prime Group (China and Hong Kong) and was involved in large-scale real estate development in Shanghai where he dealt extensively with project financing within China.

Michael also served as the CFO and a Director of the Asian-American Manufacturer’s Association in Silicon Valley. In 1987, he co-founded venture-backed Knights Technology Inc., a Silicon Valley company devoted to integrated circuit design, verification and yield enhancement and served as its CFO (until 1991) and a member of the Board of Directors (until 1996). He also previously acted as the Japan Business Manager, working with top-tier Japanese electronics firms.

Michael received his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1983 and BS in Forest Management from National Taiwan University in 1977. In between, he served in the army of the Republic of China (Taiwan) as a platoon commander and attended the graduate school in Economics at National Taiwan University studying automobile and steel industries. Michael was born in Taiwan and later became a US citizen.

Jeffrey Khoo

 

 

Jeffrey Khoo

Jeffrey is based in Singapore and is a co-founder of 3V SourceOne Capital. He is also a co-founder and former CEO of Erimos Pharmaceuticals, LLC (North Carolina, U.S.A.) which developed small molecule drugs for serious diseases including cancer. Mr. Khoo has more than 19 years of working experience in varied industries including semiconductor, medical devices, fund management, property development, travel and leisure.

His expertise is in the areas of financial planning and control, mergers and acquisitions, business development, strategic planning and fund management.

Jeffrey was the CEO of Commonwealth Travel Services Corporation, a regional travel services company with annual sales in excess of US$100 million. Prior to that, he was at the Real Estate Division of Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and managed its property investment portfolio in Silicon Valley and the greater Seattle area. Jeffrey also worked with Eli Lilly & Company’s Strategic Planning Team in the Medical Instrument Division. Besides being a member of the planning and M&A team, he was directly in-charge of certain cost-down plans and new technology implementation. Mr. Khoo was the pioneer project leader between 1989 and 1990 in converting the design and manufacturing process of the LifePak series of defibrillators of Physio Control International Corp., then a subsidiary of Eli Lilly, from conventional PCB technology to SMT.

Jeffrey currently sits on the boards of several family-owned real estate development companies in Malaysia, Hong Kong and China. He is also actively involved at the board level with several IT and medical devices companies in Singapore and the US.

Jeffrey graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1986 with a BE in Electrical Engineering (1st Class Honors). He was a DuPont Scholar and was awarded the Shell Eastern Petroleum Book Prize in 1986. He obtained his MBA degree majoring in Finance from the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley in 1988 and was elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the highest scholastic honor that a student in a school of business or management can achieve. Mr. Khoo is a member of the Singapore Society of Financial Analysts and an affiliate member of AIMR. Mr. Khoo is a charter holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is also an alumnus of the US Venture Capital Association.

Li Chunyu

 

 

Li Chunyu

Chunyu joined 3V SourceOne Capital in 2008 and currently works as a Vice President. He has been working in the semiconductor industry for years and is familiar with the semiconductor, consumer electronics and advanced materials industries, as well as with manufacturing processes and plant operations. Prior to 3V SourceOne Capital, Chunyu was a manager at ASM Technology Singapore, where he built a team for semiconductor packaging equipment and technology development.

He developed the smallest automatic molding equipment for semiconductor manufacturers in the world. Chunyu led initiatives to improve product design and manufacturing processes which successfully reduced manufacturing cost and product lead time for the company. He also did business development in Asia and Europe, creating various partnerships with client companies by product co-development.

During his career in the semiconductor industry, Chunyu invented and received patents of various disruptive IC packaging solutions which significantly reduced the assembly cost of memories and processors. These technologies won industry awards for innovation. In addition to technology achievements, Chunyu is also experienced in project management and customer service, working with more than 50 companies around the world.

Chunyu has also worked as VP of Finance for Solar Engineering Solutions, a cleantech start-up company in the US concentrating on applications of solar technology in building efficiencies. Chunyu grew up in China and graduated from Tsinghua University with both a M.S. and B.S in Chemical Engineering. He received his MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. At Sloan, he won the 1st prize for operation management simulation.

Rene Lee

 

 

Rene Lee

Vice President

 

 
Rene is a Vice President at 3V SourceOne Capital. Prior to joining, he worked with Accenture as a consultant and was deployed across a number of regional supply chain projects, serving global consumer goods companies in various functions including performance measurement and post-merger integration.

During this time, he helped to implement a regional supply chain dashboard across Asia Pacific for a Fortune 50 client, covering countries like Australia, China, Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore. He also led diverse teams comprised of consultants, external consultants, and client members across over 10 geographic locations.

In addition, Rene worked as a summer consultant with the Boston Consulting Group on economic regulation processes for the corporatization of a government entity.

Rene started his career with PSA Corporation, the world’s largest container terminal operator, after being awarded the PSA Corporation overseas scholarship for the duration of his undergraduate degree. While at PSA, he assisted the Head of Engineering in managing the division and driving key divisional initiatives. He is also an active member of the Singapore Armed Forces Reserves, holding the rank of Captain and appointed as a Battery Commander.

Rene graduated from the University of Toronto with a BASc (Honors) majoring in Civil Engineering. He was on the Dean’s list every semester and awarded a university merit scholarship each year. He received his MBA from the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley. Rene is a member of Mensa Singapore and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

Terence Zou

 

 

Terence Zou

Vice President

 

 
Terence is a Vice President at 3V SourceOne Capital. Presently, he is the Secretary of the Singapore Venture Capital & Private Equity Association’s (SVCA) Industry Development Committee where he is leading efforts, together with government agencies, to grow and develop the industry in Singapore.

Previously, he worked with Focus Partners LLC, an Asian hedge fund, where he evaluated and wrote investment theses for investment opportunities in both the public and private equity space. Terence was also a summer associate with Citigroup Global Markets Asia (Hong Kong) in the Investment Banking Division. He worked in the mergers and acquisition group and performed due diligence and financial analyses on Chinese, Taiwanese and Korean technology companies. He was involved in structuring numerous private equity buyout deals.

Terence also served with distinction in public service. He started out his career in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) where he worked extensively in both policy and operations. At Joint Staff level, he was involved in various policy initiatives which included reorganizing the 3G SAF, launching of the flexible investment retirement scheme and restructuring the remuneration incentive system. In addition, Terence has exceptional leadership and management experience. He accrued deep operational expertise onboard ships where he was ultimately promoted as one of the youngest commanders of a Navy warship. In the post-911 era, Terence served and led a crew on the frontline to counter maritime terrorism threats.

Terence graduated with an MBA from Harvard Business School. In addition, he holds degrees from both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the London School of Economics under a Government of Singapore scholarship. He is a consummate investor with interests in all asset classes including private equity, public equity and real estate. He reads widely, watches CNBC nightly and has more than 14 years of equity trading experience.

Matthew Wong

 

 

Matthew Wong

Senior Portfolio Manager

 

 
Matthew is a Senior Portfolio Manager at 3V SourceOne Capital. He has worked across a broad range of industries including construction, finance, and fund management. His areas of expertise are in financial analysis and control, strategic planning and fund management.

Prior to joining 3V SourceOne Capital, Matthew worked with SPRING Singapore, a Singapore Government agency, as an Investment Manager overseeing early stage investments. He was in charge of evaluating projects under the SPRING Startup Enterprise Development Scheme (SPRING SEEDS), the Growth Financing Program and Business Angel Scheme. He directly managed a portfolio of approximately 40 Singapore-based start-up companies and supported a portfolio of another 30 companies.

Prior to working in the venture capital industry, Matthew was as a Manager with Overseas Union Enterprise Limited, a public-listed company in Singapore with market capitalization of approximately SGD2 billion. He worked directly with the CEO and senior management and was in charge of financial analysis for the whole group, assisting in property investment and due diligence.

Matthew also previously worked as a Finance Officer with ABN AMRO’s consumer finance department overseeing money market and other back room operations and assisting in financial reporting. He started his career as a consultant mechanical engineer at Parson Brinckerhoff, a US-based engineering consultancy company, where he was involved in major projects such as Capital Tower, Harbour Front Complex and Circle Line MRT.

Matthew graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Mechanical and Production Degree majoring in Control Engineering. He obtained his Masters of Science degree in Applied Finance from the Singapore Management University.

Wan Chuiping

 

 

Wan Chui Ping

Finance and Administrative Manager

 

 

Chui Ping joined 3V SourceOne Capital in 2008 as a Finance and Administration Manager. She oversees the Management Accounting and Shareholders Reporting functions of the management company and its funds. She was formerly an auditor with Deloitte and Touche and subsequently joined DBS Finance as a Finance Manager. She subsequently joined DBS Bank Ltd and was responsible for the compliance and financial reporting of the DBS Bank Group.

Chui Ping graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honors) degree and is a qualified Chartered Public Accountant.

Chow Li Fong

Administrative Executive

 

 

Li Fong joined 3V SourceOne Capital in 2008. She is responsible for office administration, managing investor relationships and documentation, and liaising with the Corporate Secretary and CPA firms.

Prior to joining, Li Fong worked as a tax assistant with the tax department of Deloitte in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She graduated from the University of Malaysia in Sabah with a Bachelor of Business (Honors) degree majoring in International Business.
